St Mary's House & Gardens

St Mary’s House & Gardens, is an historic c1470 property in the delightful village of Bramber, next to Steyning. In 1984 it was beautifully saved and restored. Queen Elizabeth II gave the dedicated owners MBE’s in recognition of their efforts. The house has a remarkable Royal and Literary history. Of particular note are connections with King Charles II escape; the Elizabeth I painted panel room; Oscar Wilde ‘Importance of being Ernest’; and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle ‘Musgrave Rituals’. The house has been hosting civil weddings and partnership for many years. There is a beautiful and elegant Victorian Music Room which can host up to 85-90 people. There is also a beautifully restored Drawing Room that the appointed registrar uses with the couple before going in for the ceremony. The gardens provide a wonderful and picturesque opportunity for Wedding photos. The topiary garden in front of the house (east side) has two ponds and a small stone bridge between that provides great opportunities for wedding photos. The terrace garden (south side) also provides another great location for photos across lawns. Couples getting married her become part of the on-going historic record of the house and gardens.
NOTE: The House & Gardens are registered for the Ceremony with light refreshments. Fuller reception arrangements and accommodation is possible with our collaboration with the Castle Inn next door (100yards away). They can provide quality reception, entertainment and accommodation options as required. We are also in the process of building collaborations with other local beautiful and quality venues, who can also provide reception and accommodation arrangements as may be required.
